Habits de Lumière – A Champagne Festival

Friday 13th December marks the 20th Anniversary of the Habits De La Lumiere Festival in the town of Epernay, France. For those who aren’t familiar it’s an annual celebration in the capital of the Champagne Region, a sparkling, spectacular affair.

Initially conceived as a one off event in 2000 to celebrate Champagne making in the new millennium, it has grown steadily in popularity to become a yearly occurrence and a seminal event on the French calendar. The three day festival is a celebration of Champagne, the wine, the cuisine and the stunning architecture of Epernay, France.

What's On?

There are light displays, champagne and art installations in abundance, fireworks light the sky and the atmosphere is as effervescent as whatever graces your glass. There’s also, poetry, live music and exquisite food stalls so you can eat drink, and be merry to your heart’s content!

All of the big names are in attendance, from Moet & Chandon to Perrier Jouet, each provide tastings and live music, here are the highlights:

Habits de Saveurs – Culinary delight, haute cuisine and champagne pairings by the most prestigious chefs of the region.

Les Nuits Blanches – “Sleepless Nights”, a light installation that includes video mapping across Epernay’s unique architecture.

Vintage Car Parade – Beginning at 11am on Sunday, this is a treat for the car aficionados, against the backdrop of Epernay it’s a rare chance for a moment of true nostalgia and puts us in mind of Hollywood films of yesteryear.

Mercier Fireworks – A moment of illumination as the Mercier vines are lit up by a memorable pyrotechnic display.
