Welcome Aboard from the Directors
2024 marks a special occasion for us at European Waterways, as we celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary as pioneers of inland waterways cruising.
Looking back, it was growing up next door to each other on the banks of the River Thames that first sold us both on the unique experiences that rivers and canals could bring. From this, we decided that we wanted to share our passion with as many people as possible – but in an intimate and bespoke way – exploring off the beaten track with small numbers of like-minded travellers.
Today, we operate the largest fleet of luxury hotel barges in Europe, now supported by a dedicated professional team, but our passion remains undiminished and the ethos remains the same – to offer the enjoyment of slow travel on smaller rural waterways to explore some of the most historic regions of Europe – their scenery, heritage, people, culture, food and wine. In today’s new age of travel, we believe that our concept of small groups of passengers, private excursions and unique insider experiences – all whilst cruising through charming countryside at walking pace – is even more relevant to travellers’ aspirations.
Lastly, as the company continues to grow, we’re delighted to announce for 2024 the latest addition to our fleet – the 8-passenger Kir Royale, cruising the Champagne region of France. And, due its popularity – our Christmas Markets Cruises will be returning to Alsace aboard Panache, ringing in the festive season in style!
We look forward to welcoming you on board.
