A Hotel Barge Cruise is a Great Way to Enjoy Summer Festivals and Celebrations in Europe

“Vive La France” on July 14th!

Our 6-night cruises along the Canal du Midi in the South of France, departing on July 13, will give passengers the chance to celebrate Bastille Day, the French National Day, in true French style. Guests will be able to watch firework displays and join in the celebrations, perhaps from the deck of their hotel barge whilst being served champagne, or away from the crowds in a local village.

During the rest of the week, our fully-crewed hotel barges will glide along the 300-year-old canal, pausing for visits to the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne, ancient Narbonne and the Cathar hilltop town of Minerve. These special summer cruises offer the perfect blend of excitement and tranquillity. For more information on our Canal du Midi cruises please click here.

The Festivals of Venice and a River Po Cruise – a Wonderful Combination!

Lovers of the beautiful city of Venice will know that its festivals are world-famous and this year is no exception for people wishing to be there to soak up the atmosphere.

There are festivals like the Festa del Redentore on July 19 & 20 near St Mark’s Square, where people walk across the Grand Canal on a floating bridge of boats for good luck, followed by an amazing fireworks display over the lagoon; or the Venice International Film Festival, an 11-day event starting in late August that takes place along the sea-facing Lido Esplanade.

Before or after these festivals, guests can enjoy a 6-night cruise aboard La Bella Vita across the Venetian Lagoon past colourful islands and through the Po Valley. There will be tours of Chioggia, Ferrara and the Renaissance gem of Mantua along the way, and delicious Italian food prepared by the talented onboard chef – accompanied of course by fine Italian wines.
