ABC - Appreciate Bordeaux at Christmas!

Bordeaux has recently been voted the best city to visit and it’s easy to understand why. This capital of the most renowned wine-growing region in the world has much to offer, including the new Cité du Vin, a truly innovative wine museum sited on the banks of the River Garonne “where wine comes to life through an immersive, sensorial approach, all set within an evocative architectural design.”

Other must-sees in Bordeaux are Place Royale with its breath-taking Water Mirror and the Musée des Beaux Arts, while in the surrounding areas there is the opportunity to visit prestigious wineries such as Château Margaux, whose wine is one of only four to be classified as first growth, or Premier Cru, when classification began in 1855.

Bordeaux is also the perfect city from which to embark on a Wine Appreciation Cruise along the Canal de Garonne aboard hotel barge Rosa. This 6-night voyage of discovery will include visits to places intrinsically associated with wine-growing, such as the medieval town of Saint-Emilion. There will also, of course, be private tastings at several wineries, led by a knowledgeable wine guide who will make sure you get the most from the whole experience.
