Reminiscing about Renaissance from Alison R

“We enjoyed an amazing cruise on the Renaissance in 2015.  It was all the family and we had the entire barge to ourselves!  Everything about the trip was 10/10.  We enjoyed it so much, we swiftly booked a trip on the Shannon Princess last year. Wonderful memories.”

Piper in the Scottish Highlands, from Dave A

Dave and his wife cruised the Scottish Highlands aboard the Spirit of Scotland in 2019. One of his ‘Remembering the Good Times’ moments was an address by a traditional Scottish piper, who played along the banks of the canal, before coming on board to meet the guests.

Family Fun in Gascony, from Chris N

“We charted Rosa in 2016 for our family of six (3 generations). We have many happy memories of the holiday, the fine food and wine, the excellent daily excursions and the terrific hosts. But sometimes the best memories are just relaxing at the front of the barge, as she made her way along the route. As in this photo of passing along the 1,000-foot-long aqueduct, the Pont Canal du Cacor.”

Barging and Bridges, from Edward G

Edward cruised the Canal du Midi in September of 2018. One of the canal’s popular quirks is the low-lying bride in Capestang. Here, larger vessels find it a tight squeeze to navigate, whilst the captain ducks-down when piloting beneath the bridge! But don’t worry, guests can enjoy the views from the safety and comfort of the deck. Here’s a shot of Enchanté’s captain in action…
