Family Cruise - Scotland

ITINERARY*

If you are a family with children, we are able to create a bespoke itinerary and substitute a maximum of 4 excursions from our Classic Cruise Itinerary with your preferred family activities.

The following activities can usually be arranged by our Customer Services team or the barge Captain and can be included in your itinerary without any extra charge:

Bowling
24 Lane Bowling Alley in Inverness. Open for a quarter of a century, Roller Bowl was one of the first such bowling alleys in the Highlands. Bowling shoes are available for hire. Suitable for all ages. Baby-changing facilities are available on site.

Ice Skating
Ice rink in Inverness on the banks of the River Ness, offering ice skating for all ages and levels of expertise. Disabled access throughout the facility, which also has a lounge bar, café and baby-changing facilities.

Nevis Range Mountain Gondola
Unique in Britain, the Nevis Range cable car system allows visitors to enjoy a scenic ride while taking in stunning views and clear mountain air from high above the ground. The gondolas transport visitors 1,850ft up the north face of Aonach Mor, the eighth highest peak in Britain. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes in each direction and each car can accommodate up to six people. The journey allows for breath-taking views of the Scottish Highlands, including the Great Glen, Ben Nevis and the surrounding areas. On a clear day you can see as far as the Inner Hebrides!

Treasures of the Earth Centre
Visit the Treasures of the Earth museum in Corpach to witness Gemstones and Fossils, 500 Million years in the making. Founded over 20 years ago by a father and son team, this private collection is housed in a beautiful Catholic church, hosting a number of visitors each year.

Outdoor Discovery Park
Outdoor adventure park featuring numerous activities, including climbing walls, dry-skiing, quad biking, laser quest, high ropes, grass sledging, river assault and much, much more. All instructors are fully trained in their activities and all hold the relevant safety certificates. Suitable for all ages. (Supplements may be payable depending on the activities requested).

Swimming
Large leisure centre in Inverness with 2 swimming pools, wave pool, river with jets and geysers, flume rides and a thistle-shaped outdoor pool. Suitable for all ages.

The following activities* can usually be arranged but, due to their nature, they should be booked directly by the client with the activity provider. Our Customer Services team or the barge Captain will be able to assist with any bookings. The cost of these activities are not included in your itinerary:

Steam Train Ride
Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, this 84 mile round trip aboard The Jacobite takes you past a list of impressive landmarks between Fort William and Mallaig. Starting near the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, it visits Britain’s most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig, passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar and the shortest river in Britain, the River Morar, finally arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis! Suitable for all ages. Must be booked in advance.

Great Glen Waterpark
Kayak or canoe in the Great Glen Waterpark, and enjoy the beauty of Loch Oich, Loch Ness, the River Oich and The River Garry. Other activities are also available, including water rafting and canyoning.

Sea Kayaking
Explore the Scottish coastline from a sea kayak and you may be lucky enough to encounter sea otters, seals, basking sharks and a huge variety of coastal birds. Several itineraries are available, and many have options for different levels of expertise, whether you are new to water sports or experienced in sea kayaking. Suitable for all ages, although parents’ discretion is advised. Must be pre-booked.

Adventure Activities
From white water rafting to paintball, Segway, rock-climbing and abseiling, if you’re a thrill-seeker, you’ll enjoy a host of activities available at Vertical Descents – a high adrenaline sports complex in The Scottish Highlands.

Please Contact Us to discuss your specific requirements – we will be very happy to help.

*Activities are payable by the client directly to the provider, whose individual terms and conditions apply. All activities are subject to availability. No minimum age requirement unless stated. Children’s bicycles, bicycle helmets, child car seats and high chairs and available without cost.
