Family Cruise – Northern Burgundy

Family Cruise - Northern Burgundy

If you are a family with children, we are able to create a bespoke itinerary and substitute a maximum of 4 excursions from our Classic Cruise Itinerary with your preferred family activities.

The following activities can usually be arranged by our customer services team or the barge captain and can be included in your itinerary without any extra charge:

Amphitrite Aquatic Centre
Leisure Centre in the town of Montbard consisting of a 25m sports pool with 4 lanes, and a fun pool equipped with rivers, bubbling baths, massage jets, a paddling pool and a 45m slide. Adults have the added bonus of relaxing in the sauna, hammam and Jacuzzi. Suitable for all ages. Baby changing facilities are available.

Auxerre Museum
Discover Auxerre Museum of natural history, natural sciences, science and technology. Situated in a stunning 19th Century building, families will enjoy special themed activities and a children’s workshop inside. Entrance is free.

Art in the Forest
A conceptual art gallery set deep in a forest near the town of Tonnere. Artist Alain Bresson has spent years cutting trees and branches adorned with moss and the occasional flower to form sculptures that seem to come from another world. Suitable for all ages.

Ten Pin Bowling, Laser Tag, Mini Golf (5 years+)
Enjoy a game of bowling, laser tag or mini golf at the leisure centre in the town of Auxerre, with 20 lanes. Whilst there is no age restriction, the lightest bowling ball weighs 3kg. Bowling shoes with socks are obligatory and can be hired from the complex starting from EU size 26 (UK Child size 8 – 8½ / US Child size 9½). Open every day except Mondays.

Caves of Arcy-sur-Cure
A series of caves featuring remarkable parietal art (cave paintings), the Caves of Arcy-sur-Cure are the second oldest presently known after those of the Chauvet cave being 28,000 years old. The paintings were discovered in 1990 under a thin layer of lime sediments which were hiding them from view. Unfortunately, some of these paintings were damaged due to regular high pressure cleaning of the walls of the cave from 1976 to 1990, but a great many have survived and are now on display to the public.

Tennis (4 years+)
Enjoy tennis Courts alongside the River Yonne in Auxerre. Other activities include Squash and Badminton.

Ice Skating (3 years+)
Indoor ice skating rink close to Auxerre with availability to rent skates. Shoe sizes start at EU size 23, so we have recommended a minimum age of three years upwards.

AB Loisirs – Tree Climbing, Kayaking, Mountain Biking and other activities (2 years+)
This outdoor activity centre offers treetop adventures, watersports, mountain biking trails, horse riding, quad biking, rock climbing and paintballing. Whilst those listed in blue can be included as part of the itinerary, some activites are available at a supplement, which are listed below. Check with the activity provider for more details.

The following activities can usually be arranged but, due to their nature, they should be booked directly by the client with the activity provider. Our customer services team or the barge captain will be able to assist with any bookings. The cost of these activities are not included in your itinerary:
